It was a long time coming. Clemson has one of their best teams in years and will be playing for an ACC Championship. USC has one of the youngest teams in the nation and has lost three straight.
It looked like a bad combination on paper for the Gamecocks but the New Carolina showed they have more than enough talent to match the Tigers man for man.
Clemson never got within 10 points after half-time and lost by 17.
USC defeated both NC State and Clemson from the ACC this year. With additional high-quality recruits coming in next year, they will be competing for the SEC East title in the next 2 years.
THE GOOD - the running game and the defense. USC rushed for 223 yards even though South Carolina is last in the SEC in rushing. The Gamecocks defense held Clemson's C.J. Spiller to 18 yards rushing on 9 carries and 260 yards in total offense.
THE BAD - the special teams gave up the third kickoff return for a touchdown this year. The other two were in the Georgia and Vanderbilt games.
THE UGLY - Gamecock's Antonio Allen muffed a short punt that should not have been handled giving the Tigers a first down.
