The Gamecocks offense sputtered all night against Auburn so Coach Spurrier will turn once again to Conner Shaw to start this Saturday against Kentucky.
“As most everyone knows, our quarterback play has not been as good as we would have hoped,” Spurrier said. “We’ve got to do something. This is Connor’s game; it’s his opportunity to go and play and we think he’s ready. At some point, we have to do something to shake up this offense and this is the first step.”
“It’s an opportunity that I’m willing to take advantage of,” Shaw said. “I think I’m ready to play. I’m excited and we’ll see how it goes this Saturday. I feel confident and I feel like I’m ready to play.”
“Coach just told us that we know we can play better, to put the game behind us and take our frustration out on Kentucky,” Gilmore said. “We can’t get down. We just have to know that we lost the last game, correct the things that we didn’t do well and go from there.”
